Mabel Rivero

Choreography

In her choreographic work, Mabel Rivero brings together soundscape, space, and the technical and expressive qualities of the dancers.

Her choreographic language becomes central when movement serves as the narrative support of an idea.

She creates choreographies for film, theatre and television, interpreting the aim of each project and translating it into an artistic proposal suited to its context.

Trajectory

Her work as a choreographer began in 1988 with the founding of the dance company The Jazz Group.

That same year, she directed the opening and closing choreographies of the First Fashion Designers’ Congress and the closing gala of the II National Conference on Morphological Sciences, both held in her hometown, Rosario.

Since then, she has developed an extensive body of choreographic work, exploring different formats and contexts through creation, research, and the observation of movement.

The Cut Arts Centre: DUOLOGUES

29TH APRIL 2023 – 6pm
Tango Dance Performance with Mabel Rivero and Michael Lavocah

The Covid-19 pandemic raised questions about how we work. After long periods of solo and home working for the majority of workers, we began to understand the importance of regular small-scale communications that occur in a shared working environment.

The exhibition, Duologues?, focuses on artistic collaboration, bringing together four collaborative artist duos. These are artists who have committed to working collaboratively, despite, or perhaps because of, the particular challenges and benefits.

Location: The Cut, Halesworth IP19 8BY – Suffolk, England

Dancers: Michael Lavocah, Mabel Rivero
Costumes: Maria Reyna Carvajal
Soundscape and technical support: Michael Lavocah

Si Supieras Vida Mía: “Naranjo en Flor”

The ladies’ boutique “Si Supieras Vida Mía” organised an original event with a tango theme entitled “Naranjo en Flor” – the central theme of its 2009 autumn/winter collection.

The performance by the group of artists from Rosario created a lively atmosphere at the well-attended event, which was attended by customers, friends and artists associated with the boutique. An unconventional event with a distinctly theatrical character: an artistic intervention that took over every area of the shop.

Ganovenball – Veins of the Earth

Within the context of Haus der Sinne in Berlin, this artistic project proposes an immersion into the underground as a space of perception and experience.

Inspired by urban atmospheres and cultural resonances between Rosario and Berlin, the basement becomes a living territory: a network of corridors, sounds and actions where the audience is invited to move through and inhabit the work. Through performative interventions, music and staged situations, the space reveals what sustains itself without being seen, activating a sensory experience where the visible and the hidden intertwine.

Dancers: Mariana Guerrero, Mónica Juárez, Martín Bosso, Ariel Cuñado, Valeria Cantares

Concept, realisation and organisation: Mabel Rivero, Thomas Henschel & Compagnie des Artistes et Fous
